The pitch would have made it clear, and so would the quality of the players currently available, but there is growing confirmation that Milan may choose not to sign a centre-back in the final hours of the transfer window. After Luca Bianchin, the 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' journalist who had already explained the Rossoneri club’s intention might very well be to rotate its current centre-backs during the first part of the season, including the very young Diawara and Vladimirov, news has now also emerged from Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel.
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto spoke on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel about the possibility of Milan signing a centre-back before the summer transfer window closes:
"The information reaching us is that Milan are absolutely focused on other targets. Amorim may also be interested in adding another centre-back, but the ownership and those currently handling the transfer market, Gerry Cardinale above all, are all focusing on other solutions. Several names have been offered in recent hours: Morato of Nottingham Forest, for example. There has also been a lot of talk about Gonçalo Inácio, a profile that Amorim likes, but as things stand, Milan have other ideas and other targets."
