Journalist Enzo Bucchioni spoke on RadioSportiva about the choices made by Milan during the transfer window:

I absolutely understand Milan fans, I really do: those who support Milan are used to a big transfer market, to bringing in players of a certain calibre, and it is never enough because your team has to be dominant. But the situation has completely changed here, the footballing culture has changed, and so has what they want to achieve. It is no coincidence that there isn't even a big-name sporting director. Cardinale has taken and assumed all the responsibility himself first and foremost, he has put himself in the hands of a super-agent like Mendes to handle the transfer market, and above all he has brought in a coach like Amorim, who has to give the team a style of play and an identity.
"That is the central point: they have brought in players with the characteristics suited to that style of play. And have you seen the way they play? I haven't disliked Milan in the opening games, because you can see that there is work behind it. Of course, there are things to improve: the defensive phase is not yet fully established, the pressing leaves too much space... The team needs to grow, but there is a very clear footballing idea, and within that idea you have to develop the players."
