Speaking to gazzetta.it, Ivan Rakitic, a close friend and former Croatia international team-mate of Luka Modric, spoke about the Croatian star’s ambitions:
“The end of last season was a really difficult period for Luka. Milan were struggling and he was sidelined with a painful and delicate injury. Missing out on Champions League qualification was disappointing, but he still arrived at the World Cup highly motivated and then contributed to Croatia as always. If you don’t have the mentality of a top player, it is difficult to reset everything in just a few days. He is a guarantee and manages to bring out the best in his team-mates.
Modric said that he chose to continue because he wants to win a trophy with Milan? Rest assured that he will do it. He is a winner and when he sets his mind to something, he always gets it done. He can achieve anything, and if you think his mission is impossible, that is precisely when he performs at his best and surprises you. Milan have a strong squad and a well-prepared coach. They worked well over the summer and, if they continue like this, they can give themselves a chance in the Scudetto race.”
