When referee Marcenaro blew for half-time at the end of the first half of Lazio-Milan, it was hard to imagine that the Rossoneri could leave the Olimpico with any points. This was a disastrous first half that could have seen the Diavolo go into the break more than two goals down. In that regard, Milan had Maignan to thank, as well as Lazio’s lack of precision.
In the second half, Milan relied on the technical quality of their new arrivals and also on their heart: elements that completely transformed the game.
This morning, the Corriere della Sera, commenting on Milan’s comeback against Lazio in its football pages at the back of the newspaper, ran the headline: "The heart of the Diavolo". The subheading pays tribute to the day’s great protagonist and MVP, Diego Moreira, whose decisive brace allowed the Rossoneri to return from Rome with a point: "Milan, two goals down, come back against Lazio with Moreira’s brace. Amorim still unbeaten". The subheading also includes a quote from the coach himself, highlighting just how much work there is still to do: "But you can’t play for just one half."
