If the derby victory had brought great enthusiasm, Thursday's poor defeat in the Europa League has brought everyone at the Rossoneri club back down to earth. The disappointment over the defeat against Ferencvaros, the third in four European matches, is still considerable, as is the anger of Ruben Amorim, who yesterday at Milanello once again gave his team a dressing-down. He had already done so after the match and repeated it when training resumed because what happened at San Siro against the Hungarians must never happen again.

Amorim angry with his players after the defeat against Ferencvaros
The Corriere della Sera reported this morning that the Portuguese coach had never used such strong words since taking charge of Milan. Even after other defeats or poor performances, he had always defended his players, but not this time: Amorim called on everyone to take responsibility and demands greater commitment from everyone in training. Of course, he also has his share of responsibility, such as failing to convey to the squad the importance of the Europa League campaign, as well as the excessive rotation he has consistently opted for in European matches. The quality of the alternatives is far too low compared to that of the starters, and therefore Amorim will need help from the winter transfer market.
Milan need help from the January transfer market
Markus Krosche, who will officially become Milan's new Head of Football in January but will already begin working behind the scenes for the Rossoneri in the coming months, faces a far from simple task. There are several things to address: a defender is absolutely essential, and the leading names are Gonçalo Inacio of Sporting Lisbon and Sylla of Saint-Gilloise. Something is also needed in attack, where Francesco Camarda is still too inexperienced to serve as the first alternative to Gonçalo Ramos. The dream is Nicolò Tresoldi, Club Brugge's centre-forward and a huge Milan fan, but it is a complicated deal that is more likely to gather momentum in the summer. While waiting for the transfer window, the Rossoneri must focus on tomorrow's away match against Genoa, in which all the key players will return to the starting line-up.
