The Milan Prosecutor's Office investigation into the sale of AC Milan from Elliott to RedBird in 2022 features a previously undisclosed detail, as reported by the Milan edition of 'Il Corriere della Sera' (relayed by Milan Press) the Guardia di Finanza had considered seizing the Club, but the public prosecutors had decided not to proceed.
The reconstruction
The matter emerged during the hearing before investigating judge Chiara Valori, who was called upon to assess Blue Skye's opposition to the request to dismiss the investigation. Blue Skye is a former minority shareholder in Elliott, linked to Salvatore Cerchione and Gianluca D’Avanzo. Two managers linked to Elliott and the Rossoneri's former CEOs, Giorgio Furlani and Ivan Gazidis, had been entered in the register of suspects in the proceedings.
Blue Skye disputes the regularity of the sale and believes that certain investigative elements were not examined in sufficient depth. The lawyers representing the suspects, on the other hand, criticised the investigative work, even suggesting that the complainants had influenced the work of the judicial police.
Another controversial point concerns an international letter rogatory sent to Switzerland. The response had arrived at the Prosecutor's Office before the request to dismiss the investigation, but had remained stuck in the offices for months due to organisational problems, without being forwarded to the magistrates handling the investigation.
The document was subsequently recovered, but its contents were nevertheless found to be consistent with the conclusions of the Prosecutor's Office, which had already requested the dismissal of the case.
