In his second Serie A appearance, Matteo Gabbia was not to showcase the talent and potential that he has, unfortunately for him and for AC Milan. The young Italian defender started next to Simon Kjaer and lost 4-3 against Fiorentina.
Gabbia's girlfriend took to Instagram to react to those who insulted Gabbia after his lackluster performance against La Viola and wrote the following:
"I am so ashamed to be part of the same human race as ignorant and frustrated people who vent their hidden anger on 20-year-old guys and hurting them. Football is a game and so it should be considered as such regardless of the performances."
The player's partner, Federica Ruggeri, continued:
"Everyone is free to express his thoughts, but there is a limit: Dignity and respect exist. That's what makes the difference between a fan and an ignorant and that’s who you are."
Last night, Simon Kjaer, in an interview (see here) defended Gabbia revealed that the defender is feeling 'down' and that mistakes are part of football.
