AC Milan failed to grab the win against Inter in the derby della Madonnina tonight at the San Siro in a match valid for the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg.

The Rossoneri's performance was characterised with high pressing in the Nerazzurri's half. Stefano Pioli's men clearly had the idea of trying to snatch the opener early in the game. Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez worked hard in the offensive phase together as their sprints forward did hurt the opposition who were a little slow when they had the ball.

There were quite a few chances that were presented to the red and black faithful. However, and unfortunately for the coach and the fans, the players failed to convert these chances. Alexis Saelemaekers, Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez each had their chances in the first half. But, the struggle to score continued.

What did not help Stefano Pioli's plans was also Alessio Romagnoli's injury who had to be taken off the pitch as Pierre Kalulu replaced him around the 29th minute.

In the second half, however, the pace dropped a little as, naturally, the players cannot be able to continue the high rhythm for the entirety of the game.

Inter, for their part, were solid defensively and very compact while Marcelo Brozovic worked hard to close spaces for the AC Milan midfielders. The Nerazzurri tried to catch their rivals on counter-attacks, but Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori were very attentive and used their speed to close down on the Inter players.

It was a goalless draw for the red and black faithful. There is still one more game to go with the Nerazzurri hosting the second leg.

Now, Stefano Pioli and his men have to focus on the next challenge: back to Serie A with a very important fixture coming against Napoli on March 6th.

Below, you will find our ratings for the AC Milan players. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
