We have explained to you how the big presence of the Rossoneri fans in the Bentegodi stadium against Hellas Verona angered the opposition's fans.
In fact, they went on a manhunt outside the stadium once the match ended to beat the AC Milan fans and they were looking everywhere for them, in bars, restaurants and clubs.
Panorama collected the testimonies of two Milan fans who were attacked near the Bentegodi stadium. The first said the following:
"I went to the stadium with two friends. We parked one kilometer from the stadium to walk. I hid the Rossoneri shirt under a sweatshirt with a zip just to avoid problems. Arriving near the stadium we stopped for a sandwich at a kiosk. It was hot and I unzipped the zip. I didn't have time to do it and a person started insulting me from a distance. After a moment I found him a meter away from me telling me to take off my shirt. Two others approached and one hit me with a strong punch in the face. Apart from my friends who helped me, no one came near. I haven't seen the police. Inside the stadium we had no problems, our sector was close to the Milan corner but then, in the end, the atmosphere changed again. A group of about fifteen people entered and began to threaten and insult. They didn't even stop in front of the children, in fact, one of them threw a plastic cup full of beer at a child as we tried to get out to leave. He insulted his father, scolded him and threw the beer on his son. There were a couple of stewards but they didn't intervene. When we left the Bentegodi I had taken everything off, I had my sweatshirt with nothing under it to avoid problems. We left with our heads down pretending to be disappointed Verona fans, but around us there were people with belts in their hands waiting to discover people having the Rossoneri colours to beat them. In front of the police, who were present, they walked with their belts in their hands and looked for those with AC Milan signs. Then we finally got to the car and went home", Said 'Alessandro G.'
Another fan present in the stadium commented:
"I am a fan who follows football since he was a child. and I also attended very dangerous Serie C stadiums. But what I saw in Verona brought me back to the 90s in C, an era that I would not have never imagined to review. Arrived in Verona I went for a ride in the center. Near the stadium, anyone not wearing Verona's colors was subjected to insults. There was a couple of gentlemen, one in a red sweatshirt, who was attacked. He had to defend and justify himself because he was just a person who happened to be there and was going to work. His fault was that red sweatshirt. I was under the grandstand, we were many Milan fans and we gathered together to get as close as possible to the host sector, also out of respect for the Verona fans, to avoid situations of tension and separate us from them. When Verona scored a group of troublemakers came to us to insult and threaten us and the same happened at the end of the game. They waited for us at the exit of the gates and all those who did not have scarves or anything from Verona were insulted. And they didn't stop at the insults: a boy who came out of the stadium alone was kicked. Next to me there was a family with three children, the little one cried throughout the game in front of the scenes of thugs who threatened and yelled. They were middle-aged people, very identifiable groups and very aggressive and intimidating. Stewards? I haven't seen any. At first there were a couple at the entrance, eventually one approached us to tell us to leave as bad things could happen. They said there would be more agents and cameras. We had to be protected and instead there were only a couple of stewards."
