Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Christian 'Bobo' Vieri who played for Inter (and Milan briefly) had this to say about Paolo Maldini's contract renewal:
"If I were in Paolo's shoes, I'd have been angry as a beast. One thing is certain: if I had been in the new owners, signed the purchase of Milan for more than a billion euros at half past twelve, do you know what I would have done at 12.31? A phone call to Maldini, to summon him to the office and tell him: 'How many years do you want to sign? One, two, four? Here is the contract.' Other than pulling it out like this."
Christian Vieri:
"What Paolo, Massara and Pioli have done in these two years has been incredible. But well, maybe this is football: you shouldn't expect anything from anyone. Mercato? There is still time, the market has just begun. It was more urgent to define the directive component."
