After the victory away at Genoa, Milan's coach Stefano Pioli spoke to DAZN microphones:
"It's difficult to see such a finish, but the beauty of football is experiencing emotions you can't imagine. It was a very tense and nervous game, but we believed in it, and credit must be given to my players who have played a lot during this period but have put in the energy and mentality to win it until the end. I like to think that what Giroud did in goal is part of our spirit, trying to secure an important victory. Pulisic could have gone in goal, but he's a bit smaller, and there was a free-kick."
Pioli continued:
"The group wants to give their best; we have always been a team that had to play well to win, but now we manage to win even the dirty games, and that's an important characteristic, especially when you play every three days. Winning while suffering and struggling against a worthy opponent is a sign of growth. The goal? It was a game with many incidents; if they reviewed it and found it to be legitimate, then that's fine. In the first half, there were few balls for the attackers because we made some mistakes in our passing. Three substitutions in attack? They are all important players, and as long as they show the right attitude, I will play them. Theo's suspension against Juventus? He told me it was a normal foul, the only one in the whole game. We look forward. The upcoming matches against Juventus and Napoli? We will fight with them until the end. During the break, I hope to recover Kalulu, Loftus-Cheek, and Krunic; we will find solutions to be competitive even in Paris."
