Alex Jimenez is dazzling at Milan. After convincing in the Primavera squad, he was called up to the first team when Pioli was lacking players in defence. The Spanish right-back played on two occasions out of position, on the left, and still did well to win the hearts of the Rossoneri fans. He played as a starter in the Coppa Italia against Cagliari, and entered during the first half to replace the injured Alessandro Florenzi in the match versus Empoli in Serie A.
Jimenez arrived at the Rossoneri from Real Madrid in the summer on loan with a purchase option of 5 million euros, although the Spaniards have the option to buy him back.
Gianluca Di Marzio, on his website, wrote that the AC Milan club directors are seemingly already working on redeeming him from the Spanish club:
"The agreement with Real Madrid is clear: Milan can redeem the player for 5 million euros. However, the Rossoneri would like to change the terms of the agreement. The intention would be to pay less than 5 million euros immediately, but with a series of bonuses that would allow Real Madrid to earn more money, compared to the agreed 5 million, if Jimenez were to grow and play many matches. Meanwhile, the player is happy to be in Milan, he feels great and is pushing to stay at Milan, which considers it the ideal club for his development."
