Ruud Gullit, AC Milan's former iconic midfielder, gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport in which he talks about Milan's negative period. Here are the words of the Dutchman:
"I don't like making comparisons of different eras. Then Serie A was the richest league in the world, today England and Spain are ahead."
On Milan having no Dutch players:
"Inter have De Vrij, Juve are with De Ligt. But the days of a club choosing foreigners from a single country are over. Once there was the Milan of the Dutch, the Inter of the Germans… It's a different kind of football."
On Ibrahimovic:
"I never said that Zlatan is too old. Never. Simply, after his last, bad injury, I thought it was hard to get back to the top. Instead Ibra is still a wonderful player: his mentality and his work ethic also make his teammates grow."
On the Scudetto:
"My favorite is still Juve. Of course, Inter are in the lead, Milan played great football before being held back by absences. I like Lazio, too, but the Bianconeri have the strongest team and can come back."
On AC Milan drawing Manchester United in Europa League round of 16:
"It is a strong team, but with some environmental problems. Solskjaer is always on the grill. Look at a photo of him today and one from when he accepted the job, he looks decades old. There is always controversy around United, being a manager in Manchester after Ferguson is complicated."
