In this month of February, gradually, Rafael Leao's football dominance has returned. Particularly since mid-month, starting from the first leg of the Europa League playoffs against Rennes, the Portuguese has found his scoring touch and repeated it a week later in France and then again on Sunday with one of the best performances of the season against Atalanta.
For this reason, this morning, the Corriere dello Sport newspaper presents a close-up on the Rossoneri's number 10, titling it:
"He's the real Leao. He leads the charge on all fronts."
He knows these "fronts" very well since he's the only Rossoneri player to have scored in all competitions.
Leao is the undisputed technical leader of Milan, and after his performance against Atalanta, the hope is that the Portuguese may have unlocked himself and is capable of leading the Rossoneri until the end of the season, taking them to play something important, especially in the Europa League.
This year he might have scored less (9 goals compared to the 15 of the previous season) but there's still a long way to go, and he has focused a lot on assists (7), which are more than in the past. In all of this, the Rossoneri management must protect their champion, with PSG knocking assertively at the door: Milan protects itself with the 175 million euros release clause.
