According to Milan News, Sassuolo manager Roberto De Zerbi spoke to Sky Sport in the San Siro postgame. His club received 3 points following an emotional past few days, where De Zerbi was not shy of sharing his point of view.
When asked about his player Giacomo Raspadori, who was responsible for both Sassuolo goals today:
"Knowing him, the emotion is even stronger, we have many young players like him. It is nice to see them improve, over time they acquire more conviction. He scores these goals because he is strong,".
On the match:
"Today's victory came on April 21, as well as the one with Benevento which was the best in our career. We had important opportunities in the first half as well. Milan are strong, but we also had opportunities in the first forty-five minutes,".
On the anger of the team following news of the Super League:
"Yesterday I was able to see firsthand how difficult it is to take a position, I confirm it, I stand by what I said yesterday. The players and fans of Milan, Juve, and Inter are excluded from all of this, the right to say these things. I have not offended anyone, I am even more convinced today because everyone has mobilized. Maybe I have denied myself the possibility of going to one of these clubs, but I would do it again because I am right,".
On Paolo Maldini and Milan:
"I was lucky enough to grow up in Milan with real champions, probably now I am no longer in any club. Something with them in terms of their mentality I carry with me with pride. It is an important club, if they start touching my world, it is right to take a stand,".
On the meaning of victory:
"We didn't have to prove that we know how to play football, I talked to the players saying that every now and then you have to take a position, not so much to open the air, but when you need to let out what you think without fear. They understood the fuss that I created and they put something extra in it, if that were the case I'd be happy but they don't have to prove anything,".
On the future at Sassuolo:
"The desire has always been great, you have to get the brain and the heart. We are professionals and we have to bring results. The relationship between me, the players, and the club goes beyond football. Today, our patron would have been proud, winning like this after yesterday's controversy would make him very proud,".
De Zerbi threatened to not play this match in protest of Milan's involvement with the proposed Super League. The Sassuolo manager called out Milan, as well as Juventus and Inter, for their involvement in the league, disavowing the idea. Milan has reportedly cut ties with the Super League as of now, but the emotion was not lost on De Zerbi. This match definitely had a personal meaning to the manager, and he was not shy to share the emotions during his interview.
