According to what Corriere dello Sport has learned, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has until Monday night to decide his fate with Roma. The player’s current deal expires on May 31, and he has yet to make a formal agreement with the club as of now. According to sources, if the Armenian does choose to stay with his club, he will be signing a 2 year deal until 2023, otherwise he will be walking for free. Management of the Roman club is positive regarding the situation, as they figure the player would have made his requests to leave earlier on in the process.
Milan have had their eye on Mkhitaryan for some time now, as they know they could sign the player on a free transfer. Milan seems to be the only competitor for the player as of now, apart from Roma. The forward is already 32, and would have an opportunity to play in the Champions League again with Milan. The Armenian can play in the number 10 role if Hakan were to leave the club, or could also play out right, as Milan look to reinforce the attack on the right flank.
Roma have done everything in their capabilities to convince their player to stay, including mending the rift between the player and new manager Jose Mourinho. Milan would be happy to add another experienced player who just had 23 goal contributions in league play this season. Maldini and Massara will be monitoring the situation in the next couple of days.
