AC Milan defender Laura Fusetti shared her thoughts about the loss in the Coppa Italia final against Roma with the Milan TV’s microphones and spoke about the fans, the strength of this team, and much more.
Here are her words:
On the outcome:
"We wanted it to end differently. We believed it, we fought, we hoped, it was our very first Coppa Italia final and we wanted to take it home for us, for the club, to thank them for everything they’ve done for us, for our fans who came after so long and, yes, we are sorry. However, I think we gave our best, we put everything into it and therefore we must not feel ashamed of anything here today."
On having the fans back at the stadium:
"It was a great pleasure to have them here with us today and, as you said, it shows that for Milan there is no difference between the men’s and the women’s team, we are all the same family"
On the strength of the team:
"You have to be careful back there, maybe we could have also risk something more upfront, but we tried to give our best, to help all players and teammates, they also did the same in attack, in midfield, even our attackers have practically defended today, so I think today the strength was the group because we gave everything all the time."
On how to face this defeat:
"Certainly, the defeats are bitter, but they teach and help to grow. I believe that it is a starting point for what awaits us next season, also because we have got the qualification for Champions League and we can't wait to start playing again."
