Italian striker Serena Cortesi, who joined the AC Milan Women after a loan spell at Orobica, gave her first exclusive interview to Milan TV and spoke about her expectations, her idols, what it means to play for Milan and much more.

Here is what she said:

On being at Milan:

“It was a great honor to be sought by this great club, it was a beautiful welcome, so emotional to see the colors, the totem at the entrance of the field, the sponsor, all of the people here, players, coaches. You see that it is a great club with great players.”

On playing the Champions League after a loan spell at Orobica in Serie B:

“I thank the Orobica, for having me last year and how they made me grow. I ‘m still processing this idea of playing a Champions League, even to be part of a large group that made it to the Champions League, one of the biggest competitions, it is really an honor to be part of the first team. Now we hope to become regulars at the competition, but I must admit that it feels really great.”

On how she felt facing Milan as opponents:

“I faced them in their debut season in Serie A and Milan were already a very strong side, they were growing a lot. I also met them in Coppa Italia last season, where I played from the beginning. It was very difficult for me because I already knew I was in this group and it would be my group, where I would return to, it was touching for me but they were a really tough team to face. Then the players welcomed me at the Vismara, they welcomed me very well and all the doubts, all the anxieties I had were gone, everything went so nicely.”

On playing with Valentina Giacinti:

“It is a great honor because she is already a great player and, among other things, she is from Bergamo just like me and, in fact it is a great honor and there is so much I can learn from a player with her experience and her talent. And she is also a symbol of the national team.”

On her past and present idols:

“I like Kaka a lot, who is one of my great idols, I watch his videos whenever I can, even Ronaldinho. Now, I like Lewandowski and Hazard a lot, I really like technical players and Lewandowski, he is a fox in the box, a great player, a great striker.”

On the return of fans to stadiums:

“I hope they return as soon as possible, to come to the stadium and cheer for Milan, Women’s or Men’s team, and that it would be an honor to play for them. Also, it would be amazing to hear my name at the stadium, it would be a dream.”

On her expectations at Milan:

“I hope to stay here as long as possible, to learn great things, this season there even a new Champions League which I want to play, maybe to do more in the future. I sincerely hope to honor the shirt and I am incredibly happy to be part of this new chapter. Forza Milan!”
