AC Milan, after a busy transfer market window in the summer, must still work on future possible deals to add much needed quality to the team.
One of the most important players in the squad right now is Franck Kessié who has a contract expiring at the end of the current season. The player's agent and the Rossoneri management have not yet reached an agreement and it seems that the deal is very far from being concluded.
Milan, naturally, must look to protect itself and find a replacement in case Kessié chooses to take the same path that Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu took before him.
In this sense, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have identified the heir of the former Atalanta midfielder.
According to what is reported by Estadio Deportivo, the managers are on the track of Betis star William Carvalho. The Portuguese central midfielder has an expiring contract in 2023 and is not experiencing the best moment in his career now with coach Manuel Pellegrini. However, Il Diavolo leaders recognises the player's quality and would like to try and sign him.
The website adds that the Italian giants could even try to sign Carvalho in the winter, because in January, Kessié and Bennacer would be leaving to play the African Cup. The Rossoneri needs some useful depth, especially given the injury record and risks at the club.
According to the source, as relayed by PianetaMilan, Betis would be asking for a fee of 15 million euros. However, Maldini and Massara would like to try to sign the Portuguese player on loan with option to buy.
As for the salary, though, it will not be a problem as Carvalho currently receives an affordable figure set at 2.5 million euros per season.
