Juventus captain, Giorgio Chiellini, commented on Leonardo Bonucci's move to AC Milan in the summer of 2018 and said the following to La Gazzetta dello Sport:
"When he told me that he was leaving Juve, I was very, very bad… I wrote him a lot, clearly in private, because I'm someone who likes to keep certain relationships private. He communicated the news to me one morning, it was the first days of retreat, he told me verbally and then in the evening I wrote him a long message."
Chiellini continued:
"The choices in life must certainly be accepted, but if he hadn't been on vacation alone in the month before, but we had gone on vacation together like other years, I think he would not have gone to Milan, I am convinced. I would have made him open his eyes a little more, I would have made him understand that he was making a mistake, that Milan, with all respect there, was not Real Madrid but not even today's AC Milan, it was definitely going to get worse, in fact then he has realised the mistake soon enough. Of course, then I don't decide for Leo, I don't decide anything even in my house."
