AC Milan centre-back star Simon Kjaer renewed his deal with the club yesterday. He is set to remain with the Rossoneri until 2024.
The player expressed his happiness to continue his adventure at the club and said the following to the club's official channels:
"I said from the start that I came here to help the team. The possibility of staying at Milan is a dream, there was no other place I wanted to be. I'm too good here. The path we have taken since I arrived with the coach and with everyone has been something special for me. I am very proud to be here. Milan has always been for me the greatest club in the world, for the history it has, for the players who have played here. I'm living a dream and I'm ready to do my best every day."
On the renewal, he continued to say:
"I renewed until 2024, we have to win something before I go away. I have a good relationship with Paolo (Maldini), he is the history of football. For me he is perhaps the greatest defender of all time. I will stay for another two years after this season and I am proud of it, Paolo gives a great impact to the club, to the group, but we must all do more."
Kjaer on coach Pioli:
"I have always spoken well of the coach, I have an excellent relationship with him, he lets me do my job, he has a lot of faith in me and that gives me the opportunity to give my best for the team and for myself. I didn't know him that much before I came here. His impact is positive, he always asks you 'How are you?'. He gives everything for the club and for the team, he is present every day."
On his arrival to Milan:
"When I joined the club, there was a difficult environment, the group had quality but lacked the awareness of being able to do what we are capable of doing. The path we have taken as a group is the thing that makes me most proud, we have become a team that is currently the strongest in Italy. We did very well last year too. I have to give my all to leave a small sign that there was a Dane who did something for Milan here. Then there are many steps ahead, but my dream is to finish my career here but not in 2024, I'm still young but I've already seen so many things in football."
