AC Milan will have to set a strategy as they prepare to enter the January's transfer market window. The club has just left the Champions League competition and should now focus on the league. However, it will be quite a difficult task while Simon Kjaer is injured among other important absences and obstacles.
According to Sky Sport Italia, there will be no intervention in the attacking department in January because Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara expect the return of Olivier Giroud and Ante Rebic from injury.
As for Simon Kjaer's replacement, there are some options to be followed closely. But, the 'go-ahead' must arrive from Elliott in order to be able in investing in an important name such as Lille's Sven Botman who is a talented 21-year-old Dutch central defender.
On the other hand, if Elliott decide that there can't be any important investments made in January, then the club management will decide to go for a cheaper solution (loan with option or obligation to buy sort of deal). In this context, Malang Sarr from Chelsea, who is 22-year-old physically strong French centre-back is an alternative as well as his teammate Andreas Christensen,25, who has an expiring contract at the end of the current season.
Fiorentina's Nikola Milenkovic is also to be followed closely. The Serbian 24-year-old defender is an important target.
It is yet to be seen which path should Milan choose now to replace their star defender Kjaer. Now, everything depends on the budget which will be available in view of January's mercato session.
