Rafael Leao has become an important pillar for AC Milan. He has a lot of potential to still unleash and with more work and dedication, he may reach higher levels in terms of quality and performances. This is why the club technical area director Paolo Maldini and the sporting director Frederic Massara want to lock him down with a new contract to keep interested buyers away.
Rafael Leao's contract runs out in June 2024 and the management of the Rossoneri club has been moving for a while to avoid situations like those of Hakan Calhanoglu, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Franck Kessié, and Alessio Romagnoli.

Corriere dello Sport in today's print edition are ready to to keep Leao happy and satisfied with an improved salary which will be around 4.5 million euros.
First, however, the legal dispute concerning him and Sporting Lisbon must be resolved. In fact, Lille are also involved in this affair and 16.5 million euros will have to be paid in compensation to the Portuguese club. AC Milan are not involved in this legal matter but they have always shown support to Leao in the last months. His contract extension is very close. But, the legal dispute must end first in order to be able to finalise the renewal.
