AC Milan's ownership could soon be changed and with it, the plans for the summer transfer market window could be accelerated.
There are ongoing talks between Elliott Management Corporation and Bahrain-based InvestCorp. If the Arab investment fund do take over the Rossoneri club soon, then they will try to accelerate on some mercato trails.
For the summer mercato session, though, a lot will also depend on one important agent who is: Jorge Mendes.
Rafael Leao:
First, there is the topic of Portuguese left-winger Rafael Leao. According to Calciomercato.com, AC Milan directors do have an agreement with the player's agent for a post-tax salary set at around 4.5 million euros plus bonuses. However, due to the ongoing legal issues with Sporting and Lille, the player's request could get higher. Milan, for their part though, remain confident on this front.
Renato Sanches:
Renato Sanches who is also represented by Jorge Mendes remains one of the important targets for Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara. The two club directors see him as a great candidate to replace Franck Kessié who is set to leave for FC Barcelona on a Bosman once the current season is over. According to the same website, there is a basic agreement with Jorge Mendes for the transfer of Lille star midfielder. But, in the recent period, some English clubs have shown interest, without forgetting the entry of Juventus in this race.
Marco Asensio is AC Milan's target too...
Marco Asensio recently switched agents and is now represented by Jorge Mendes as well. The super FIFA agent has quite a few options to go over with his new client to see which destination is the best. AC Milan are keen on the Los Blancos star whose contract expires in Jun 2023. But, Premier League outfits Arsenal and Tottenham have expressed interest as well.
Watch out, though, for Real Madrid who have not yet given up on the renewal of Asensio. But, in case there is no agreement found, they do not intend to release the Spaniard from his contract and will seek an adequate transfer fee to let him go.
Renato Sanches in midfield and Marco Asensio for the attacking midfield without forgetting the renewal of Rafael Leao means that AC Milan have a lot of business to do in the summer with the Portuguese agent who can highly influence the coming market session of the Rossoneri.
