Frederic Massara, AC Milan director of sport, spoke to the media during the event at Rimini for the inauguration of the next transfer market session. Here are his words:
"Scudetto secret? It's not a question of intuition. It is a culture of work , enthusiasm, unanimity, a team that builds the team and a coach who puts the players in a position to grow, something done in an excellent way by Pioli. It is a championship that came in a collective way, there were moments of difficulty but everyone was involved and each of them gave something, even those who played little. Everyone put a stamp: I am thinking of Tatarusanu's penalty, Daniel Maldini's goal at Spezia, Rebic's recovery from which Tonali's goal at the Olimpico was born. This is thanks to Pioli, he did an extraordinary job and the thanks of all the AC Milan fans go to him."
On signing Mike Maignan to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma who left on a free:
" It was a delicate phase but not in reference to Donnarumma, who is a great champion. When the new ownership arrived, there was a strategy aimed at rearranging the economic condition, we had to regain competitiveness without forgetting sustainability. We had to make a virtue of necessity. This led us to make difficult, delicate choices, but we are happy to have found an extraordinary goalkeeper who will make the history of Milan."
Frederic Massara on the transfer market strategies before vs now:
"Within a squad then there are players who make you dream. Once it was difficult to find strong foreigners, even when I was young when I was playing for Torino, I always expected the champions who were usually forwards and playmakers. The teams took Platini, Van Basten… we at Toro took a right back, van de Korput."
