AC Milan have been deprived of many players in different occasions this season due to injuries. However, the positive side of this is that the team introduced several youngsters who performed well whenever required, as pointed out by Tuttosport in this morning's print edition.
These players come from a youth sector who is now working well and they were courageously (but also wisely) launched into the fray by the AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli.
The latest gem showcased by the coach in the Coppa Italia is Álex Jiménez. Originating from Spain, specifically from Castilla, the Real Madrid B team. Finding space in the first team among the Galácticos was challenging, so Jiménez decided to try his luck at Milan.
It took some time to settle into Abate's Primavera, then he excelled both in the league and in the Youth League, ultimately earning the call-up to train with the first team, leading to a dazzling debut against Cagliari.
The 18-year-old player is supposed to be a right-back, but Stefano Pioli has deployed him on the left. His tactical evolution will also determine his future: Jiménez is on loan to Milan with a buyout option for 5 million euros, and a buyback option in favour of Real Madrid.
Real Madrid, on the left, signed Fran García (24 years old) in the previous summer. They also have Ferland Mendy, and even Eduardo Camavinga can play as left-back if needed. Real Madrid are also dreaming of signing Alphonso Davies in the future from Bayern Munich.
On the right, however, behind Carvajal (turning 32 in a week), there's only Lucas Vázquez, whose contract expires in June. So, in short, Real Madrid will carefully observe Jiménez's development before making a decision, as per the source.
