In this morning's print edition, the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera discussed the ranking of revenues for European football teams in the 2022-2023 season, highlighting the significant progress made by AC Milan, under the ownership of RedBird Capital Partners.
According to the Deloitte Football Money League study, Real Madrid once again emerges as the richest team in Europe in terms of revenues: with 831 million euros in earnings in the last season, 'Los Blancos' have overtaken Manchester City (826 million euros) to claim the top spot.
Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, closes out the top three with 802 million euros, ahead of Barcelona (800 million euros). For the first time in their history, the French club has reached the Top 3 in the special revenue ranking. The data also revealed that 17 out of the top 20 European clubs experienced increases, primarily due to the recovery of sponsorships lost during the COVID years and an increase in ticket sales.
There was, however, a limited increase in television rights revenue (5%). So, where do Italian teams stand in the revenue ranking for the 2022-2023 season? The first among the Italian teams is Juventus, in 11th place, with a turnover of 432 million euros (+8%).
AC Milan club has made the most significant leap: with a turnover of 385 million euros, the Rossoneri recorded an increase of 50% compared to the previous season (the one with the Scudetto). They climbed three positions in the ranking, from 16th to 13th.
This means overtaking Inter, which remains in 14th place with a turnover of 378 million euros, despite a 23% increase. Finally, making its debut in the Top 20 is Napoli, with revenues of 267 million euros, as relayed via Pianeta Milan.
