AC Milan and Inter executives have met today at Palazzo Marino, as guests of Milan mayor Giuseppe Sala.
The Milanese mayor had summoned the two clubs to present the San Siro renovation project, proposed by the Arco Associati studio, which had also attracted the interest of WeBuild. The project was conceived in an attempt to persuade both AC Milan and Inter Milan to remain in Milan and not relocate elsewhere. This was the focal point following the meeting between Milan's President, Paolo Scaroni, Inter's CEO, Alessandro Antonello, and Mayor Sala, as reported by Milan News.
The meeting lasted about half an hour, and neither Scaroni nor Antonello made any statements upon leaving.
According to the source, Milan came to the municipality today with the intention of listening to the municipal project, which seemed somewhat belated compared to the past few years during which Milan and Inter have worked to try to find a solution. There's a feeling that certain extraordinary and advantageous situations must occur simultaneously for the clubs to accept Sala's proposal officially presented during this morning's meeting. At the moment, such a scenario doesn't seem feasible, though.
Meanwhile, awaiting further developments and an imminent statement from the Municipality of Milan, Milan is steadily progressing with its San Donato plan. The lands of the former San Francesco area have already been purchased for a sum close to 40 million euros, and public debate has also begun in the presence of Mayor Squeri.
The Rossoneri club has no intention of stopping now that the work seems to be in motion. The club's goal is to play its first match between 2028 and 2029.
