AC Milan, coached by Stefano Pioli, are fighting to secure their spot for the next edition of the Champions League. They are also competing for the Europa League, with their next opponent being Slavia Prague.
The executives at the top, however, are starting to monitor some opportunities in the market to strengthen the team, regardless of who will be the next coach.
In the upcoming transfer market, Milan, which will already numerically need another central defender, will lose Simon Kjær, whose contract expiring on June 30 will not be renewed, as per Pianeta Milan. Hence, the Rossoneri management has decided to allocate funds for an important signing (the preferred choice is Alessandro Buongiorno from Torino, valued at 35 to 40 million euros) but also to bolster the department with another quality free transfer.
The aim is to strengthen the department while being able to channel significant financial resources into other areas of the field.
The defenders available on a free transfer that Milan has set its sights on for the 2024 summer transfer market are known. One is Tosin Adarabioyo, born in 1997, English of Nigerian origin, currently at Fulham; the other is Lloyd Kelly, born in 1998, English from Bournemouth. One right-footed, the other left-footed. According to reports from MilanLive, however, another name that could soon climb the ranks at the Rossoneri club should be noted.
Milan could ultimately aim for Mario Hermoso, born in 1995, Spanish player of Atlético Madrid. He has experience in La Liga and the Champions League, he also has quality, and extreme reliability.
Capable of playing as a central defender (left-footed) in a three or four-man backline, Hermoso, who stands at 184 centimetres tall, is also liked by Serie A side Juventus.
The former Real Madrid youth academy graduate, who is now 28 years of age, has made 32 appearances for his team, playing a total of 2835 minutes between La Liga, Champions League, Copa del Rey, and the Super Cup. He has 2 goals to his name and also one assist.
