The news about the investigations at Casa Milan has thrown the Rossoneri world into turmoil. AC Milan has declared its neutrality regarding the events, which currently only concern Giorgio Furlani and Ivan Gazidis, along with two other individuals related to the Elliott Fund's management structure.
The issue that has arisen has overshadowed what was supposed to be, and still is, the eve of the Slavia Prague-Milan match, the second leg of the Europa League Round of 16, a crucial game for the continuation of the Rossoneri's season, who hold the advantage of starting from the 4-2 lead obtained at San Siro six days ago.
This morning, through a series of questions and answers, Corriere della Sera tried to shed light on the issue concerning the Milan Prosecutor's Office and the sale of Milan.
The newspaper reports that the Guardia di Finanza (Italian financial police) has seized "documents and made copies of data on PCs and phones." Furlani and Gazidis are accused of the crime of obstructing the oversight activity by the Italian Football Federation regarding the communication of the actual ownership of the AC Milan club.
This accusation stems from the suspicion of the Prosecutor's Office that the Elliott Fund still has "substantial control" over Milan, despite the sale to RedBird having been communicated to the FIGC.
In this scheme, President Paolo Scaroni is not under investigation because this type of offense can be committed by those who are required to report specific communications within a club, which is typically the CEO's prerogative in a football club.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, Elliott's control over the club occurs through the vendor loan agreement. If the accusations are confirmed, which still need to be verified, Milan risks fines or penalties in the league standings.
