AC Milan lost 1-0 against Roma in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals, and it was indeed a poor performance by the Rossoneri team. But there were also many doubts and comments regarding the referee Clément Turpin's performance.
Here's the analysis from the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport in today's print edition.
On Lukaku's alleged offside: "Doubts remain about Lukaku's position in the action leading to the corner kick for the goal. On El Shaarawy's pass, Lukaku seems to be level with Gabbia: VAR would have determined it with certainty, but in this case, it cannot intervene."
On the potential penalty for Milan:
"Instead, he intervenes towards the end to check Abraham's punch in a scramble from a corner kick: the check concludes without a penalty. Again, many doubts here."
Turpin rating 6: "He officiates in a European style, so he doesn't whistle for body-to-body contacts, but towards the end, he misses something (holding on Giroud at the edge of the box)."
