Closed one cycle on the bench, will another one close on the field as well? That's the question raised today by Gazzetta dello Sport in one of its Milan-focused article.
The Rossoneri's big three, namely Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez, and Rafael Leao, find themselves in three different situations, and it's impossible for the club to part with all three of them this summer. However, at least one of the trio could depart.
La Gazzetta dello Sport starts with the Portuguese, who has the longest contract (until June 2028). His bond with Milan has never been stronger, but that 175 million euros release clause forms the basis for any potential negotiation, and there's no shortage of admirers. PSG might try again given Mbappe's departure, while Chelsea and Manchester United are watching from England and considering their options.
As for the two French players, they share the same contract duration (until June 2026) as well as interest from the same club: Bayern Munich. The full-back is content in Milan, but talks for a renewal haven't really taken off.
Alphonso Davies' departure from the Bavarian club leaves a void to fill, and Theo is the prime candidate. The asking price is in the three-figure range (around €100 million). As for the goalkeeper, his ambitions and the scale of the new project will be crucial in evaluating his future.
The former earns about 4.5 million euros per year, while the latter earns 3.2 million euros; renewing their contracts will require a significant effort.
