AC Milan recently had new contacts regarding Joshua Zirkzee. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Rossoneri have been targeting the Bologna-owned striker for months. Beyond the 40 million euros transfer fee, there are also commission hurdles to overcome. However, it's reported that Milan might not stop at Zirkzee and could attempt to acquire another number nine with different characteristics.
In fact, Paulo Fonseca, who is close to signing with the club, views the Dutchman more as a second striker rather than a penalty box forward, like Giroud has been in the past three years. For the Portuguese coach, it might be necessary to bring in a number 9 with different attributes, in addition to Zirkzee.
Milan is exploring multiple options, aware that they will need to invest significantly in the summer transfer window to strengthen the forward line after Giroud's departure. They are also considering other tracks, one of which is Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord, although there is competition. The Mexican has always been liked by the Milan management, and they will make an attempt for him as well. Another name is Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart, who is appealing particularly for his cost (a 17.5 million euros release clause), but Borussia Dortmund currently has the advantage. The option of Jonathan David from Lille remains valid; he was one of Fonseca’s favorites during his two years in France. His contract expires on June 30, 2025, and his valuation has decreased compared to last summer when Milan already made an attempt.
