With Olivier Giroud's departure, Milan is in search of a new great striker to whom they can entrust the number 9 jersey of the Rossoneri and the keys to the Milan attack.
For months now, the favourite at Casa Milan has been Joshua Zirkzee. Compared to other profiles on the list of Rossoneri executives (Gyökeres, Gimenez, David, and Sesko), he may not score as many goals, but he improves those who play alongside him.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported this morning that Zirkzee is not a prolific goal scorer, but he does score his share of goals and also sets up his teammates. At Milan, several players could benefit from the Dutchman's "generosity," primarily Rafael Leao: the two together could be devastating up front. On the right wing, both Pulisic and Chukwueze could greatly benefit from Zirkzee's work, as could two midfielders who join the attack like Loftus-Cheek and Reijnders.
There is a release clause of 40 million euros in Zirkzee's contract with Bologna, valid from July 1 to August 15, is tempting for many clubs, but what could complicate the deal are the rather high commissions requested by his agents. The Rossoneri executives continue to work on this negotiation, while in the meantime, other Milan players are already looking forward to Joshua's goals and especially his assists.
