Just a few more days, and Milan might finally have its new striker. Given the issues with acquiring Zirkzee (the commissions demanded by his agent are too high), the Rossoneri have shifted their focus in recent weeks to Alvaro Morata: the Rossoneri club directors are pressing the Spaniard, especially Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has called the Atletico Madrid forward multiple times to convince him to accept Milan's offer.
As Tuttosport explains, Morata has not yet decided on his future; he will do so starting Monday, the day after the European Championship final between his Spain and England. However, his decision seems to be made: he will leave Atletico Madrid to return to playing in Italy, this time not with Juventus, but with Milan. The AC Milan club management is ready to pay the €13 million release clause to Atletico Madrid and is confident they have convinced him with a four-season contract (or three plus one) with a total salary of €5 million.
Therefore, Morata will be Milan's new number 9, but the Spaniard might not be the only new addition to the Rossoneri's offensive lineup: his arrival does not exclude another striker joining to partner with him and Luka Jovic. Even Ibrahimovic, during Fonseca's presentation, did not rule out this scenario. Two names are currently being linked to Milan with increasing insistence: Memphis Depay, who is a free agent after his contract with Atletico Madrid (he was a teammate of Morata) expired, and Tammy Abraham, who is set to leave Roma and has also been proposed to the Rossoneri.
