After Alvaro Morata, Milan is determined to provide Paulo Fonseca with a "second" striker in this transfer market. The choice seems to have long been on 31-year-old Borussia Dortmund forward Niclas Fullkrug, who, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, has already given the green light for the move to the Rossoneri.
Niclas Fullkrug has reserved Milan's number 9 shirt, which could have been worn by Alvaro Morata given his role and status. However, Morata has opted for number 7, which was kindly given to him by Yacine Adli. The German is therefore the main candidate to inherit such a significant number, being complementary to Morata in characteristics. While the Spaniard is a special forward, skilled at finding spaces, attacking depth, combining with teammates, and providing consistent defensive support, Fullkrug is the classic target man, one of those strikers who can spot the goal as soon as they have the chance.
AC Milan aims to complete its attack with Niclas Fullkrug in this transfer market. According to the Italian newspaper, the striker has already given the go-ahead for the move to the Rossoneri, prompting the Milan management to begin negotiations with Borussia Dortmund this week. The starting bid is expected to be around 15 million euros, but Milan hopes to secure a discount by leveraging the striker's desire to leave Germany.
However, Milan is not the only team interested in Fullkrug this transfer market. Besides the Rossoneri, Atletico Madrid has also inquired about the German forward, although he is not their top choice to replace Alvaro Morata.
The names at the top of Atletico’s list are expected to be Kolo Muani and Dovbyk, so it remains to be seen whether Atletico's interest is merely a tactical move to disrupt or if it will become more concrete. We’ll see.
