In Milan's first preseason friendly under Paulo Fonseca, played in Vienna against Rapid and ending 1-1, the main issues highlighted were not only the quality of play but also the physical condition, which is lacking during this preparation period. Additionally, many potential starters for the Rossoneri were missing due to their vacations following international duties.
The first player to return among the Rossoneri is Luka Jovic, the first Milan player eliminated from the European Championship with his Serbia national team. The former Real Madrid player joined the team in Milanello this morning for the double training session scheduled by Fonseca.
His confirmation in the squad hasn't been officially announced yet, but there's no doubt: Jovic earned his spot with the 9 goals he scored last season and has secured another year on his contract. The idea is not to leave him as the sole backup for Morata, as happened last year with Giroud, but to add another central forward. Fullkrug is the primary name on the list: Milan has agreed with the player but needs to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund, which is asking for 15 million euros.
Musah and Pulisic, as good hosts, will join the Rossoneri group directly on their U.S. tour starting July 26. Following them will be the other internationals: Leao will return on July 28, and Okafor on July 30. Then, the last players eliminated in the semifinals: Frenchmen Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez will resume training on August 2 at Milanello, along with Tijjani Reijnders, who will return on August 3. Alvaro Morata will make his first visit to Milanello on August 5. Thus, the team will be complete only between August 8 and 9.
