Since his return to Rennes, Julien Stéphan has never truly convinced, to the point where even the new sporting director of the French club, Frederic Massara, has questioned the French coach's position.
According to Footmercato.net, Frederic Massara has even started exploring alternatives to replace him for the upcoming season, among which Stefano Pioli is included. The former Milan coach is therefore a potential solution for the Rennes bench, with the ex Milan director possibly leveraging the strong relationship he has with Pioli since their time at the San Siro to persuade him to join the Rennes' technical project.
Another aspect not to be underestimated is the role of agent Gabriele Giuffrida, who, in addition to being Stefano Pioli's agent, is also Leo Ostigard's agent. Ostigard, formerly of Napoli, has just recently become a new player for Rennes. The excellent relations between the parties could thus be decisive, but first, it remains to be seen what will happen with current boss Julien Stéphan, as relayed via Milan News.
