Gianluca Di Marzio, a well-known Italian journalist, spoke on Sky Sport Italia about AC Milan's choice to hire head coach Paulo Fonseca:
"Many names were considered, although within the internal process, the names were Lopetegui and Fonseca. Lopetegui was the first choice, but for a series of reasons, including the negative reaction from the fans on social media, even though saying that's the reason Milan said no to Lopetegui..."
I'll interrupt you: Massimiliano Allegri, Maurizio Sarri, Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Tuchel were available... Di Marzio answered:
"They were evaluated, but never contacted. None of them ever spoke with Milan, nor did Milan present them with the project."
