AC Milan's Algerian midfielder, Ismael Bennacer, has a contract that is running until the summer of 2027. In the last few weeks before th end of the transfer market window, however, there has been talk about a possible departure for the former Empoli player.
Bennacer wanted in France?
There were reports about Marseille being interested in the 26-year-old player who won the Serie A trophy with Milan in the 21-22 season.
In fact, according to what has been told by those at La Provence, a French media outlet, Bennacer remains interested by the prospect of joining the Marseille team.
The Italian coach, Roberto De Zerbi, who is leading the Marseille technical project, has reportedly had contacts by phone with the left-footed midfielder and told him: "Play your matches, we'll talk again in January."
Bennacer's numbers last season
Under the guidance of head coach Stefano Pioli last season, the ex Arsenal talent made 25 appearances between Serie A and Europa League. He scored 2 goals and made 2 assists in 1335 minutes played in total. This season, with Fonseca, however, he managed to make only one appearance, playing almost 60 minutes which was in the first Serie A fixture against Torino.
It should also be noted that Ismael Bennacer was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in the last few months. Before the end of the summer transfer window, though, reports have emerged about an approach from La Liga side Atlético Madrid.
