AC Milan wrote a page of history last night when they beat Spanish giants Real Madrid 1-3 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Paulo Fonseca's team came out on top thanks to goals by Malick Thiaw, Alvaro Morata, and Tijjani Reijnders.
A great masterpiece by AC Milan
In its article this morning, 'Corriere della Sera' describes the Rossoneri's victory like this
"A small, great masterpiece.”
And that’s exactly what it was. Yesterday, at the Santiago Bernabeu, facing the formidable European Champions who arrived with a strong desire for redemption after recent results, the Rossoneri put together their best performance of the season, practically flawless.

Everything clicked for Milan: their mentality, offensive play, and, above all, their defensive setup, which neutralised the 1.3 billion euros squad and its star players Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappé, who, in the end, achieved very little. And with a victory like this, coupled with a softer schedule in the latter half of the competition, Milan can now dream of securing a spot in the top eight of the single league table.
Milan win against Real Madrid, credit goes to Paulo Fonseca, too
This was everyone’s game for Fonseca's team. Each player contributed, but today, Paulo Fonseca deserves special recognition for preparing a flawless game plan and ensuring the team could execute it without a hitch.
The tactical key was deploying Musah to bolster the right flank alongside Emerson Royal, which allowed the Rossoneri to contain Vinicius’s exuberance. AC Milan's American midfielder would go on to be one of the best players on the field, benefiting the entire team. With more space in midfield and attack, Rafa Leao was able to put on a show.
Tijjani Reijnders controlled the midfield, schooling Madrid’s central line with a remarkable display. Up front, Alvaro Morata connected the play and continued his scoring streak against his former team, who have become his favorite target.
In goal, Mike Maignan made crucial saves when needed. Each player had a role, and each performed it perfectly.
