Milan falls in Bergamo: without attacking in the second half, they collapse to -12 from Atalanta, who win 2-1 and, for one night, are at the top of the Serie A standings.
Speaking to Sky Sport after the game, Milan striker Paulo Fonseca shared his perspective on the match.
Here are his words:
On the post-match disappointment:
"Overall, we’re disappointed about everything. We knew Atalanta is a great team. We were defending well, but we conceded two goals from set pieces, which isn’t usually a weakness for us."
Morata added:
"We can only correct the mistakes and move forward: we have many objectives, competitions, and soon, we also have the Supercoppa."
Why is continuity lacking?
"Because we have to play against top-level teams. If you’re not focused on every aspect, you risk losing. We conceded two goals from set pieces, and if you’re not fully attentive, things get more complicated. In the end, we struggle to maintain consistency because there’s always something. When we’re strong in certain areas of the game, we get punished in others."
Is it a mental issue? Morata replied:
"No, it’s about working on all the aspects that are part of football. We train well and give our best effort."
