Milannews.it has spoken with The Sun journalist Charlie Wyett to talk about the situation regarding Marcus Rashford and Kyle Walker, who are both linked with potential moves to the San Siro.
Here’s what he had to say::
Why has Manchester United decided to part ways with Marcus Rashford?
"The reason Manchester United is ready to sell Marcus is because of the player himself. Before Christmas, he gave an interview – unauthorized by the club – where he stated that ‘it’s time for a new challenge.’ This came just a month after the arrival of new coach Rúben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese manager was furious with him. And he still is."

Marcus wages seem out of reach for many European clubs. Will this complicate things for Manchester United?
"His salary is enormous, absolutely ridiculous. It’s almost as high as Harry Kane’s at Bayern Munich. So yes, this is a major problem for United because Rashford might want to leave, but he won’t want to take a pay cut. Whether it’s a loan or a permanent transfer, United will likely have to cover part of the difference."
What do you hear in England about clubs interested in Marcus Rashford?
"Many clubs want him, from England to Turkey. Milan clearly want him, Napoli have shown interest, and so have Juventus, but his wages are an issue. Borussia Dortmund and Monaco are also in the mix. All of them want United to pay half his salary. I think other clubs with deeper pockets than the Rossoneri might get involved, although Milan is definitely a club Marcus would want to play for."
How do you evaluate Rashford’s career so far?
"He is 27 and feels he hasn’t reached his peak. Personally, I’m not so sure. He’s played 60 times for England, scoring 17 goals, but I think he’s lost his hunger. England manager Gareth Southgate has experienced frustrating situations with him: he would get called up, then withdraw due to injury, only to play for United in the next game. The player has been unprofessional – last January, he went on a trip to Belfast, drank tequila for 12 hours, called in sick, and skipped training the next day."
Another name linked to Milan is Kyle Walker, who seems eager to leave Manchester.
"Pep Guardiola doesn’t want Walker to leave right now. He wants him to stay until the end of the season. City aren’t having a great season, and they’re trying to strengthen their squad without losing an experienced player, even if he’s out of form."

Do you think Walker would be a good fit for a club like Milan?
"Walker is 34 years old, and that’s a concern. He’s only played nine Premier League matches for Manchester City this season, and he was disappointing in the last few months of the previous season too. He didn’t play well at Euro 2024, and it’s absurd that he was named in the tournament’s Best XI. He’s lost his pace and hasn’t been helped by injuries."
If you had to choose between Marcus Rashford and Kyle Walker, who would you go for?
"Both players are on the decline. I think Walker is less of a gamble and could be a valuable addition if he regains form. Marcus could be the real prize, but I’d be worried about him."
