The Milan Derby is about to begin. From 18:00 onwards, it will all be just a memory, and the pitch at San Siro will do the talking: Milan and Inter face off in the 23rd matchday of the Serie A Enilive season.
The Rossoneri are hunting for crucial points in the race for the Champions League, while the Nerazzurri aim to put pressure on Napoli.
Speaking to DAZN before the match, Milan's Senior Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic shared his thoughts. Here are his statements:
What do you feel before a derby?
"You stay focused, you prepare, and then everyone does their job."
Are there any ongoing transfer negotiations? Ibrahimovic replied:
"It's intense, but we are satisfied."
How has this week been, from both a personal and professional perspective?
"For me, it’s a different situation. This is the second time since the summer that I’ve been involved in a transfer window. It’s intense but also tough because things happen every day. For us, there was nothing urgent, we did our part and made significant investments. A full-back left—Calabria—and Kyle arrived. Then, in attack, Alvaro left and Gimenez arrived. We have strengthened the team, and we are in a good place."
A change compared to the summer—why such drastic choices mid-season?
"They’re not drastic; they’re made to improve the situation. If things aren’t going well, you need to find solutions to change them. That’s football—you need continuity, and if you don’t have it, you must improve to get it. When you are Milan, you have to get results."
Is Santiago Gimenez stronger than Vieri?
"He’s as strong as Ibra, a different level."
Why not sign him in July?
"It wasn’t possible. Feyenoord was also involved, and there was no opportunity. Now there was, and we signed him."
