Guest at the Repubblica Forum in Milan, the Mayor of the city of Milan, Beppe Sala, expressed himself this way regarding the new stadium issue:
"If we don’t manage to build the stadium, Milan will go to San Donato and Inter to Rozzano. The city will be left with San Siro, and to avoid problems with the Court of Auditors, it will have to be put to use. And at that point, never mind today’s concerts. If we don’t manage to build the stadium at San Siro, either you sell it to someone who organizes concerts, or concerts will be held non-stop. For the residents of the neighborhood, having San Siro without football is the worst possible outcome."

Is this finally the right time for a new stadium at San Siro?
"The risk of Milan going to San Donato is extremely high, very high, because they’ve acquired that area by investing several tens of millions of euros. For those who’ve been going to the stadium for 60 years, San Siro is San Siro: I don’t think fans would be happy with a stadium in San Donato. From my point of view, I can say it’s not true that the values assessed by the Revenue Agency are not in line with the Municipality’s rules, because those rules depend on what you’re building: will it be residential or not? The answer is no."
However, the San Siro option has not been abandoned.
"I think," Sala explained, "that we’ll manage, knowing that we’ll face several obstacles and legal appeals. But let it be clear: if we don’t succeed by October, then it’s unlikely to happen."
Is there a possibility that Inter buys San Siro on its own?
"No."
