Elia Caprile's start to the season with Cagliari has confirmed the high potential of one of the emerging goalkeepers already highlighted last year. Four appearances with Napoli, the Italian champions, in place of Meret, then a loan move in January to Sardinia and a survival that was also in his hands. He was bought outright last June for 8 million euros. But now, he is worth much more.

At least three times as much. And some top clubs, which next summer will face the problem of who to trust with their goal, have started to show interest.
Inter and Milan, to be clear, are in a similar situation.
Yann Sommer and Mike Maignan are both under contract until June 30, 2026, and at present the chances of reaching an agreement to extend are not high. For Inter, the issue is mainly age, since Sommer was born in 1988, and the fact that they already have Martinez on the books, for whom they invested 15 million euros.
AC Milan, on the other hand, is going through a cold spell with its number one and his entourage after opening talks in recent months that, following initial optimism, have hit a complete stalemate. So much so that Chelsea's attempt before the Club World Cup was not dismissed outright. Under the right conditions, meaning an offer of 20 million or more, Maignan would have had the green light to leave, avoiding a free exit later.
For these reasons, Elia Caprile’s profile has landed on the radar of both Milanese clubs. Inter would then have to consider the possible impact on Martinez’s future, since he risks another season in Sommer’s shadow despite being under contract until 2029. Milan, while also looking at other options, including internally with 2005-born Torriani, would revisit a file already evaluated last summer.
Cagliari, of course, is enjoying the performances of the 2001-born Verona native and is already anticipating a possible auction. For now it is limited to two clubs, but it could expand to other interested parties, even abroad, if Caprile performs at the same level throughout this campaign. As for his current market value, Tuttosport revealed that this summer Torino offered 20 million euros to replace Milinkovic-Savic. The offer was rejected because Cagliari believes Caprile can be worth much more.
