A year after the last time, Milan could return to the market for a new center-forward. The Santiago Gimenez investment, as of now and barring any major upheavals that could occur in the Italian Super Cup when the Mexican should return to Allegri’s availability, has not yielded results. For this reason, the Rossoneri are looking for a striker who can deliver goals to the coach and allow him to consistently fight for the season’s objective: a return to the Champions League.

Santiago Gimenez or Christopher Nkunku?
As reported today by QS, the two players who have played the center-forward role most consistently this season, Gimenez and Nkunku, are also the two who could make room for a potential new arrival. It is hard to think that the Frenchman, former Chelsea and Leipzig player, who arrived in August for a significant fee, would already be pushed out. It is clear, however, that a decisive improvement in his performances is expected. Gimenez’s position is much more at risk; he was already offered on the market in the summer and has not made the expected impact in the first months of the season: only 1 goal in the Coppa Italia. He has been injured for about a month and a half.
Who are the players linked with AC Milan for January 2026 transfer window?
Many names have been circulating in newspapers and Milan-dedicated websites in recent days. One idea points to Lorenzo Lucca, Napoli’s striker, whom the Italian champions effectively took from the Rossoneri this summer. The former Udinese player has underperformed in Conte’s team, and Lukaku’s imminent return will further limit his opportunities. The deal is complicated because he is still technically on loan from the Friulian club. Another recent suggestion is Mauro Icardi, who has little space at Galatasaray due to Osimhen, but his salary is very high. Another followed name is an old favorite, Joshua Zirkzee, although Roma is also pushing strongly for him.
