Serie A has officially opened the debate on away-section ticket prices, taking into consideration Milan’s proposal to introduce a maximum cap on costs for travelling supporters. As reported by ANSA, at the end of today’s assembly, president Ezio Maria Simonelli confirmed the creation of a dedicated commission, which will be tasked with turning the idea into a concrete proposal to be submitted to a vote by the clubs.
Simonelli’s words
“The assembly also examined Milan’s proposal to set a cap on the price of away-section tickets. There does not seem to be broad agreement. A commission has been created, which will need to produce a proposal and then move to a vote. Other clubs, including Juventus and Inter, have joined the proposal originally put forward by Milan.”
Milan’s plan calls for the introduction of a 30-euro cap for away-section tickets in matches organised by the League. The topic has been raised for years by organised Milan supporters, often penalised by high prices that, together with travel expenses, make it harder to follow the team away from home. According to Milan, the cap would help increase attendance in stadiums and improve the overall value of the football product.
Furlani’s words:
CEO Giorgio Furlani also commented on the matter, speaking to ANSA: “We are pleased Serie A has decided to look into our proposal by creating a dedicated Commission, where we will continue to push to reach a concrete result quickly. The support of our fans is essential for the team, both at San Siro and away," as relayed via Milan Press.
