Ibrahimović and Cardinale are working to convince Modrić to stay at Milan for at least one more year. Gianluca Di Marzio has also confirmed the rumour, while still leaving a major question mark over the Croatian champion’s future.
If Allegri had stayed, Modrić would certainly have continued at Milan. Now he is taking time to understand and decide. These were the journalist’s statements live on Sky Sport 24:
“I know that Milan is trying to convince Modrić to continue for a little longer, especially Ibra himself. If Allegri had stayed, I think he would have decided to continue. Now he is deciding what to do, and in order to decide he also wants to understand whose hands the club will end up in: he wants to know who the coach and the sporting director will be."
Di Marzio continued to talk about Modric's future:
"I think that is legitimate on his part, considering the career he has had and everything he has won, to understand who he will have to work with.”
