The Portuguese star forward, Rafael Leao, wants to leave AC Milan in search of new challenges. Well-known journalist Matteo Moretto, on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, provides an update on the situation.
“There have also been statements from Fenerbahçe. The candidate linked, in quotation marks, to Paolo Maldini who is running for the presidency of Fenerbahçe has withdrawn from this discussion. We have never spoken about Fenerbahçe for Leao. I have always said that the club interested and ready to make a major financial offer to the player was and is Galatasaray. Fenerbahçe, in fact, has never been interested in Leao. Then there were these recent public statements, but let’s say that Leao’s future, as the player himself said, will be away from Milano and AC Milan, but to be honest, these statements also somewhat surprised those who live and work around, those who are close to the player."
Moretto added:
"Because at present there is no advanced negotiation with any club. It is true that Leao has said he wants a change of scenery, that he wants to take a different step in his career, abroad. But outside Italy, right now, there would be Galatasaray. However, Galatasaray has not even started negotiations with Milan. Also because Milan still does not have a sporting director. There are things to sort out. Then there is the World Cup in between, and it will also depend on that whether new offers arrive. At present there is Turkey and some interest from Saudi Arabia. In the Premier League there are clubs paying attention, but none have made a move at this moment.”
